Postnatal Physiotherapy

Postnatal Physiotheapy

It is very common to experience weakness in the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles after pregnancy, regardless of whether you had a vaginal delivery or a caesarean section. This can contribute to issues such as back pain, pelvic discomfort, and reduced bladder or bowel control. Without appropriate support, these symptoms may persist or worsen over time, but targeted treatment can lead to significant improvement and, in many cases, full resolution.

From around six weeks after delivery, a physiotherapy assessment of your posture, abdominal muscles, and pelvic floor can provide valuable guidance for your recovery. Supporting both your physical and emotional wellbeing during this time is essential. Encouragingly, it is never too late to seek help, meaningful improvements can be achieved even years after pregnancy. Taking time to care for yourself is a vital step in your long-term health and recovery.
