Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release
Over-used or tight muscles and trigger points (local sore spots) can be the result of normal day-to-day routine.  Poor posture (especially if you spend a lot of your day sat down/working on a computer) can load muscles and joints unevenly.  This can lead to altered movement patterns or loss of flexibility, which can progressively cause strain to certain areas resulting in pain.

Tight/sore muscles can also be caused by stress, anxiety and tension.  It is very common to find that muscular pain either appears or worsens during periods of increased stress.  Injuries and road traffic accidents can be other culprits of myofascial (soft tissue) pain.

How can myofascial release help?

Hands-on techniques, such as myofascial release work, can help to relieve tension in sore muscles and soft tissue.  It can also increase the flexibility and stretch of the soft tissue and help to relax the muscle.  When combined with other physiotherapy treatments and an exercise programme, this can improve movement, reduce pain, and prevent recurrence.
