Eat well to be happy, healthy and strong

A healthy body encourages a healthy mind

General Information

Nutritional advice puts you in control

Nutrition
The correct food balance is at the heart of keeping our bodies happy, healthy and strong.  A healthy, balanced diet gives our bodies the tools to heal itself, slow the progression of diseases and sometimes even prevent the onset of diseases and illnesses.  Correct nutrition is a powerful tool so eating food should never be a chore, it should be enjoyed.  You will therefore never be asked to eat any foods you dislike or to stop eating all the foods you enjoy.  We need balance, not restriction.

We are all individuals and we are all unique, so a one-size-fits-all diet is not appropriate. Your in-depth nutritional assessment will identify the underlying causes for your symptoms and you will likely discover connections that had not occurred to you previously.
We will work together to develop a bespoke treatment plan that takes into account your likes/dislikes, your busy schedule, your lifestyle, your medical history and your preferences.  You will be supported and guided through your treatment at a steady pace that is right for you, so that the process feels easy to achieve and you never feel overwhelmed.

Treatment consists of three key elements: nutrition, psychological advice/support and activity/exercise.  The balance of these elements will be unique to you depending on your needs and preferences.  Balancing both your body and your mind is the key to success.  Nutritional status can affect your mental health and stress, whilst stress and mental health can in turn affect what you choose to eat.  This rounded approach will help you achieve balance within your body and your behaviours.  Good nutrition can lead to happiness, health and strength.

Whether you want to boost your metabolism, loose or gain some weight, stop feeling bloated after every meal, improve your energy levels, rediscover enjoyment in food or simply achieve a better balance to your diet, nutritional advice puts you back in control and helps you organise your lifestyle so that consuming the right foods is easy.  A good diet should never be a struggle, we can help you achieve this.  You will learn how to eat intuitively, understand your relationship with food and how to maintain the best balance for your health and you will become confident in managing any eating scenarios you normally encounter.

Assessment and Appointment Process

Nutritional advice is available as part of your physiotherapy treatments. The level of advice you are looking for will determine the level of nutritional assessment you will receive. Some conditions and goals will require a much more detailed nutritional assessment.

If a more detailed and comprehensive nutritional assessment is required, you may be asked to complete two questionnaires. These will be emailed to you:
  • Food Frequency Questionnaire
  • 7-Day Food Diary (a minimum of 3 days is required)
Nutrition
During your assessment you will be asked a wide range of questions which will help build a detailed picture of your current nutritional balance and lifestyle.  Your weight, height and certain body measurements may also be taken if appropriate.

Following this assessment, the information gained along with the results of your two questionnaires will be analysed and a fully personalised treatment plan reflecting your personal aims/goals will be developed.

You will be guided through the first steps of this plan and be given access to appropriate fact sheets. We will work together to develop personalised meal plans as required.

It can take 3 months for a new habit to become automatic and it is also impossible to change too many things at once.  All changes will therefore be implemented at a gradual, steady pace.  You will be provided with as much or as little support for as long as you require.
